Take a run of 8 equal sounding beats a full run of 8th beats.

     Now remove 2 beats from the run. Taking 2 sounding beats from the run of 8. What you take out must be a pair.

     Then replace these 2 sounding beats from the run of 8 beats with 2 silent beats. These 2 silent beats take the placde of 2 sounding beats that were taken out.

     Still having a total of 8 sounding and silent beats. This is now 1 arrangement of beats.

     Silent beats are not played or picked but are still in the voice count.

Now this even run of 8 sounding beats are broken up by silent beats. These silent beats separate the sound beats from each other with silent spaces, silent beats. This now leaves behind small groups of sounding beats separated by silent beats. Numbers of these small group together make up different arrangements of beats.
